A new interpretive hands-on program with our fur trade interpreters. The Hanus’ will be joining us as “Charles & Lizette Rondeau,” portraying a Hudson Bay Company trapper and his half Native, half French Canadian wife.
This program, open to groups of 10-30 visitors per session will include demonstrations and hands on activities. During the 2 hour session, visitors will visit the Fur Trade camp where they will learn about trapping and black powder from “Charles” and the activities of women and children from “Lizette”. Our interpreters will be exploring foodways, tanning processes, including hide scraping, trade items, trade sign language and the parflesche. Each participant will then have the opportunity to make their own paper parflesche to take home. The Lelooska Museum will be open to explore and participants may learn from our Museum Hunt and Native Plant Find.
